“Tea is more than sitting in a quiet room with friends or family…but is a memorable moment to remember forever”

Tea – the perfect compliment to a great day
What two activities go together more than bird watching and tea? And what better way is there to sit and relax after a day of spotting birds at some of Cape May’s birding hotspots than enjoying tea at The Butterfly Tea Room?
The Butterfly Tea Room is located practically across the street from the Cape May Migratory Bird Refuge also known as “The Meadows”. Birders are welcome to sit awhile and enjoy their tea with friends in a relaxing atmosphere, the perfect place to discuss your adventure and plan the next day’s field trip. The Tea Room is only a mile or so to Cape May Point State Park and 2 miles from Higbee Beach these are two of North America’s most famous bird watching locations.
Before beginning your day’s adventure stop in for a delicious homemade breakfast, then in the afternoon come to enjoy lunch or High Tea – here’s a tip: The Butterfly Tea Room serves homemade soups and is famous for Peach Soup, an original recipe that food critics have raved about. For something very refreshing try the peach soup and a freshly brewed glass of iced tea.

Green Teas
Green tea is rapidly gaining popularity in the western world. Its natural aroma and widely acclaimed health benefits make green tea appealing to both the tea lover and the green tea novice.
Loose Leaf Tea
The difference between loose teas and bagged teas is the size of the leaves. The whole leaves have more of the essential chemicals and oils that affect the delightful flavor of tea. When the tea leaves are broken up and placed in small bags, the oils can evaporate, leaving a dull and tasteless tea. On top of the leaf size, there is also the space factor. Tea leaves need space to swell, expand and unfurl. Good water circulation around the leaves is important, which doesn't typically happen in a cramped little tea bag.
